Kahn Academy

The Khan Academy is an organization on a mission. “We’re a not-for-profit with the goal of changing education for the better by providing a free world-class education to anyone anywhere”. All of the site’s resources are available to anyone. It doesn’t matter if you are a student, teacher, home-schooler, principal, adult returning to the classroom after 20 years, or a friendly alien just trying to get a leg up in earthly biology. The Khan Academy’s materials and resources are available to you completely free of charge.

WatchKnowLearn – The Vision behind WatchKnowLearn is simple:

Free educational videos delivered over the Internet. Viewed any time, from anywhere. We believe that everyone should have the same opportunity to learn. The best way to make this possible, we believe, is to organize into one, super directory the hundreds of thousands of good videos currently available on the Internet. To make this a reality, we invite teachers, instructors and educators to suggest videos for inclusion into our directory, and then to review, approve, and assign those videos into appropriate categories using a wiki framework and philosophy.

Has over 7,000 videos on Calculus, Algebra, Basic Math, Geometry, Trigonometry, Biology, English Literature, United States History and Physics this is a site with a lot to offer.

Educational Portal Academy

There is one universal problem students face: college is way too expensive. Our mission is to make college education accessible to students on any budget. We offer free college courses that put students on the path to earning real college credit.

University of the People

With its tuition-free online programs, University of the People is opening access to higher education for all those constrained, as well as building a scalable and replicable model capable of changing the very nature of higher education. The non-profit UoPeople has managed to succeed in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education, and does not charge for tuition or books/materials.

The Saylor Foundation

Bringing together the people behind funding, technology, and content – to build education for all. This is a very well laid out site that is easy to navigate to the exact course that you are seeking. Hundreds of courses are offered ranging from Art History to Psychology and they are free.

Coursera

EdX is a joint partnership between The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University to offer online learning to millions of people around the world. EdX will offer Harvard and MIT classes online for free. Through this partnership, the institutions aim to extend their collective reach to build a global community of online learners and to improve education for everyone.

If you’re an educator at a university, college, or K-12 school, now you have an easy way to design and distribute complete courses featuring audio, video, books, and other content. And students and lifelong learners can experience your courses for free through a powerful new app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch.

The Faculty Project

The Faculty Project brings academia’s most outstanding professors to the computers, tablets and smartphones of people all over the world.

All courses will be free with open enrollment for anyone with an Internet connection.

Ted.Ed

TED Ed is matching the top professors and thinkers in the world with world class media production people to produce TED quality educational videos. Launched in April of 2012 this offering can be expected to grow significantly over the years with offerings that individuals or families can view and discuss with friends. Learning no longer needs to be an individual activity.

The most meaningful TED-Ed videos are collaborations between the TED-Ed team and at least one of the following: a curious learner, an exceptional educator, or a talented visualization artist. If you are one of these types of people, or if you know someone who is, please help guide our effort to create a library of lessons worth sharing by acting on one of the options below.

OER University

The OER university is a virtual collaboration of like-minded institutions committed to creating flexible pathways for OER learners to gain formal academic credit.

The OER university aims to provide free learning to all students worldwide using OER learning materials with pathways to gain credible qualifications from recognised education institutions. It is rooted in the community service and outreach mission to develop a parallel learning universe to augment and add value to traditional delivery systems in post-secondary education. Through the community service mission of participating institutions we will open pathways for OER learners to earn formal academic credit and pay reduced fees for assessment and credit.

Alice

Alice is an innovative 3D programming environment that makes it easy to create an animation for telling a story, playing an interactive game, or a video to share on the web. Alice is a freely available teaching tool designed to be a student’s first exposure to object-oriented programming.

EverFi

EverFi: Provides online training in personal financial and digital literacy along with substance abuse courses. Free for K-12.

The Public School

ThePublicSchool is a school with no curriculum. It is not accredited, it does not give out degrees, and it has no affiliation with the public school system. It is a framework that supports autodidactic activities, operating under the assumption that everything is in everything.
